The Academic Advising CHEATCODE
More About Our Program
The CHEATCODE was designed to take away the stress and confusion of college and give you the clarity and confidence you need to reach graduation.
No matter where you are—Collegiate High School, Dual Enrollment, community college, or a 4-year university—the CHEATCODE helps you map a clear path to graduation.
Too many students quit because the system is overwhelming: hard-to-reach advisors, delayed or denied financial aid, hidden resources, or calls that never get answered. That’s where we step in.
We’re your personal college cheerleaders—lifting you up, guiding your next move, and celebrating every win. Our goal? To see you walk confidently across that graduation stage while we cheer the loudest.
Our team has designed a series of checklists for you to confidently complete your degree requirements. This program includes video explanations of each point, virtual resources that deep dive into the information, and you have the option to meet one on one with the College Success Consultant, Ms. Marlayna Goosby.
Marlayna J. Goosby, M.S.
EDUCATOR
PUBLISHED AUTHOR
Mrs. Goosby has guided countless students across the graduation stage—whether at 2-year colleges, 4-year universities, or even master’s programs. She has a gift for helping students see a clear path forward when the road feels confusing or overwhelming.
A fun fact: she actually met her husband while serving as his academic advisor. What others might have called “going above and beyond” to make sure his transfer credits counted was simply the way she approaches every student—with care, determination, and a focus on saving time and money.
For Mrs. Goosby, advising is more than a job—it’s a calling. She pours her heart into walking students through the ups and downs of their college journey. Many have told her, “I never thought I would graduate.” But thanks to her support and encouragement, they did—and she was there cheering them on every step of the way.
10 Years of Experience From Prospect to Graduation
Accumulating over a decade of experience in the higher education sector, commencing her journey in the mailroom as a transcripts specialist at Troy University, Mrs. Goosby meticulously scanned and processed official transcripts for the college evaluators. Progressing steadily, she ascended through various roles, including College Admissions and Academic Advising, culminating in her appointment as the Director of Academic Advising and Testing at Northwest Florida State College. She now serves as an Adjunct Professor for College Success at Northwest Florida State College.
Demonstrated Leadership in Higher Education
During her tenure, Marlayna assumed pivotal leadership positions, including President of the local chapter of the Association of Florida Colleges and Chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee. She also served as the Florida Association of College Test Administrators Executive Board Member. Most notably, she also contributed her expertise at the statewide level as a board member of the Association of Florida Colleges based in Tallahassee.
Heart For College Students
A staunch advocate for equitable education, Marlayna has spearheaded initiatives to enhance accessibility to information and opportunities for both traditional and non-traditional college students.
Recognizing the challenges posed by underfunded public education, she launched the Academic Advising CHEATCODE program, dedicated to guiding future and current students towards successful graduation paths.
“I was completely overwhelmed helping my high schooler prepare for college. There was a lot of frustration and tears from both me and him. Thankfully, the Academic Advising CHEATCODE gave me the information I needed to help him and now he’s in college thriving, and going to see his Academic Advisor consistently!”
